A logistics company that decided to own the work
Metropolitan Logistics is an asset-based container logistics and distribution company in Toronto. We operate a warehouse in North York, Toronto, employ the crews that unload the containers, and run the trucks that deliver across the GTA & Southern Ontario. We are also an IAM-member international mover, packing and shipping households from the GTA to the UK, Australia, Europe and worldwide. The two businesses share one building, one dispatch desk and one standard.
What we believe
Logistics companies should be judged by what they own
The logistics industry runs on subcontracting. A forwarder books a carrier, the carrier hires a drayage company, the drayage company calls a lumper agency, and the shipper gets four invoices and no one to call when the container is late. It works until it does not, and when it does not, the cost lands on the shipper.
We built Metropolitan Logistics the other way. Our warehouse at 101 St Regis Crescent South in North York is where the freight actually goes. Our lumper crews are employees, not day labour. Our straight trucks and 53′ trailers are dispatched from our own dock. When we sell container drayage, transloading, cross-docking, 3PL warehousing or GTA distribution, we are selling work our own people do in our own building — and when we sell ocean freight forwarding, the part most forwarders subcontract (receiving, packing, loading, drayage) is the part we do ourselves.
That is a smaller footprint than a national 3PL and a much shorter chain of accountability. It also means we say no to things: we do not run long-haul trucking, we are not bonded, we do not sell air freight, and we do not pretend to be everywhere in Canada. We serve the GTA & Southern Ontario on the ground and the world by sea from the GTA.
How we got here
From Toronto movers to container logistics
2010
Metropolitan Movers is founded in Toronto, moving households and offices across the GTA.
2014
The national franchise program launches; the brand grows into one of Canada's largest moving networks.
2017
A new leadership team joins and begins handling complex commercial moves and relocations.
2020
The company moves into international moving and logistics — packing, shipping and clearing household goods and cargo overseas.
2021
Metropolitan Logistics launches — the brand this company carries today. From day one it is built around container logistics, warehousing and international moving under one roof. The old movers division is sold to new owners and goes its own way; everything since is the Metropolitan Logistics story.
Today
One company, one focus, growing every year: container drayage, warehousing and distribution across the GTA and Southern Ontario, and door-to-door international moving from Toronto — run from our Toronto warehouse with our own crews and trucks.

Transport Canada TDG-compliant handling of dangerous goods, including placarded Class 7 moves; ISPM-15 certified wood packaging on every export crate; CERS export declarations filed in-house; SOLAS VGM on every loaded container.

A working dock minutes from the intermodal terminals: containers received live or dropped, freight unloaded by our own crews, storage on our racks, and straight trucks loading for delivery — there whenever a shipment needs it.
